Midtown Maker's Market

Invited to be a part of a winter pop-up market, we meticulously picked then packed our inventory and headed to the small industrial street of Terry Ave. North in South Lake Union. There, we joined with local artists and filled the room with wares, prints, one of a kind clothing and accessories. It was truly a wonderful community event to be a part of at the end of December. The room was filled to the brim with very talented artists from different parts of town and shoppers were able to taste through delicious coffee, cake and savory bites. We met...

Inter Medial 1

As we watched the leaves change at the end of October, we also followed the adventurous journey of a tracking number for one of our last inventory shipments of the year. Around that time, we as a team couldn’t help but to pause and reflect on our next steps. With our current permanent space on hold, sharing access to our ever-growing collection of goods and love for creating memorable experiences had taken precedence above all else. Fashion Going Forward: COATZ

Our series “Fashion Going Forward” is about understanding how this time of isolation and ambiguity is changing the lives and work of the brands and designers we work with at Pylon. Today, we hear from Anne McCaddon of COATZ.  “To be honest the word ‘fashion’ has never really resonated with me. I was a painter and started making indigo jackets because I wanted one … and then my friend wanted one … and then I realized they were works of art too; an extension of my art practice,” she told us. “I named them, I titled them, and I got...

Right Now: Carl Jan Cruz

Right Now: Carl Jan Cruz

For several seasons, over three or four years, we watched from afar as Carl Jan Cruz built beautifully singular collections that took ideas about tailoring, proportion, and material somewhere new while expressing something deeply familiar, too. Elements of tradition and craft, rooted in his native Philippines, are by turns overt, abstract, and nuanced. When you hear that he studied menswear at London College of Fashion and spent time at Phoebe Philo’s Celine before launching his own brand and returning home to Manila, the direction, the vibe, the aesthetic all sort of lock into place. As Carl’s island nation (where all...
