From one of our favorite contemporary creatives and one of the Toogood sister's behind their eponymous clothing line comes a fascinating inquiry into process. Another great reference guide and source of inspo for anyone interested in furniture design or another tactile medium: 

This book captures the raw moment of inception behind a designer’s collection. Assemblage 6 started off with almost 300 maquettes: chairs, lamps, stools, or daybeds made of wire, cardboard, tape, and canvas, or the everyday materials to be found in Faye Toogood’s studio. But having lined up these rather crude, almost childlike maquettes, the collection, in essence, was decided. Seventeen were chosen to be scaled up to life-size works, and here we have an immersive journey through all the original maquettes and their occasional passage into the real world of furniture/sculpture, a book that plays with the sense of dissimulation evident in the final artworks, or the fact that some objects are not always what they seem at first glance.

A whimsical object to place on your shelf or put a small floral stem in. After applying the clay mixed with the color to the molded container, Katsunori applies a thick white makeup to the whole piece, and waits for the white makeup to dry and peel off over time. He then bake it in a kiln. All pieces are one-of-a-kind.

Wood-fired katakuchi. White mud is applied on red clay with a high iron content, then fired for several days to enhance the textures of the clay body and glaze. The glaze is made of wood ashes mixed by the ceramicist himself. Comfortably holds 250ml. Katakuchi are tea servers, used to share tea or matcha among guests. We think they work well for sauces and soups as well.

The long sleeved Bench shirt is an edited interpretation of a draught-maker’s shirt, with a single breast pocket and pleated cuffs. The stitching at the shoulders appears to make a traditional seamed split yoke, but in fact it shows how the front and back panels overlap, forming a double thickness at the shoulders without any additional seams.
